AUGUST 17 - RANK TEST
Train hard for the upcoming rank test. The test will be held on Tuesday's class from 5:30 to 6:30. All students must achieve a rank of 4 before proceeding to the belt test.

Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience to students of all ages in traditional and sport karate.

Sensei Curtis has been studying traditional Shito-ryu karate for over 15 years under 8th degree Akira Sato Sensei. Sensei Curtis has also trained in Tokyo under Grand Master Seiko Suzuki where he attained his 2nd degree Black Belt. He has been a member of the BC Karate team for 5 years and has also been captain. His love for competition Karate has brought him to competitions across Canada and internationally. Sensei Curtis was the head instructor of the UBC karate club for over 5 years and has taught Karate to all ages for more than 10 years.
Sensei Kristy Godo has been training karate for 10 years. She began her journey at the UBC Shito-Ryu Karate club while studying for her undergraduate degree. Developing a passion for Karate, Sensei Kristy travelled to Japan several times to receive instruction from many of the senior ranking members of Shito-Ryu Seiko-Kai, including the Grand Master Suzuki sensei. Her travels have also taken her across Canada as a representative of British Columbia competing at the National level and bringing home medals. Through years of dedication and under the supportive guidance of Master Sato, Sensei Kristy achieved her black belt in 2006.
Sensei Kristy has combined her love of teaching with her passion for Karate at Burnaby Mountain Karate School. A career teacher, she holds a Bachelors Degree in Arts and Education as well as a Masters Degree in Education. This dedication to the art of karate and background in teaching makes Sensei Kristy an exceptional instructor.
Sensei Kiyo Godo is a black belt in Shito-Ryu Seiko-Kai Karate-Do with many years of experience. Sensei Kiyo received his Black Belt from 8th Dan Seiko-Kai Master Instructor Akira Sato in Vancouver and continues to study with him today.
Sensei Kiyo also received advanced training at the Seiko-Kai headquarters in Tokyo, Japan by the Grand Master Seiko Suzuki. Sensei Kiyo has trained with many of Seiko-Kai Master Instructors including Sensei Kano, Ogiya, and Murekami during his multiple trips to Japan.
Sensei Kiyo began his Karate training at the University of British Columbia while completing his undergraduate degree. Sensei Kiyo also instructed children's classes at Master Sato's Club while studying for his Black Belt.
